PRODUCTION PROCESS INTERVENTION
WHAT IF THERE IS NOTHING UNDERNEATH THE MACHINE ?
one of my samples had no material where I embroidered. How far can I push this?
The embroidered work does not necessarily require a background.
the machine works on tension as it is strong enough you can embroider.
During the past month I have been working on the technique of embroidery with the embroidery machine. This technique we normally use to decorate on a material generally this is a fabric. The whole machine works on tension of the threads as soon as this tension drops the machine stops and the threads don't stay in place. By controlling the tension between the threads and stitches I was able to embroider without a base material. This results in a super rich and detailed web of threads, almost like lace. A decorative connection between 2 pieces. The material has changed from an addition to the only material and keep the pieces of fabric together. A decorative connection.

CENTRAL QUESTIONS
How can I embroider without basic material?
This resulted in a lace-like delicate material. Intimate.
No longer a decoration but a material in itself.

How do I connect pieces of fabric?
How do I get the connections so that it looks like the embroidery holds everything together.

How do I show that it takes a long time? Is it bad if a machine takes a long time to make this?

How do I show that it is a rich detailed fabric. How do I draw attention to it?
KEY EXPERIMENTS
CAN I EMBROIDER WITHOUT A BASE MATERIAL
CAN I EMBROIDER ON THE MATERIAL THAT I HAVE MADE?
HOW BIG CAN THIS BE ?
the only limit you have is the size of the loom.
I CAN EMBROIDER WITH DIFFERENT DENSITY

DESIGN CRETERIA

It must become visible that this technique has been worked on with attention and that it takes time.

This technique should show that the machine can not only be used to decorate fabrics but can also be used to make material.

Connect with the embroidery it should look like the embroidery holds everything together.

The detail of the material should attract attention.

The end product must still be functional.

RELEVANCE
In this project I showed that the embroidery machine can not only be used to decorate material but also to make and connect material. However, this technique takes a very long time which makes it expensive. Is it bad that the machine takes a long time? Or does it add value to the project? There is much more potential to discover. This technique would rather come to its right in the more high end of the fashion world. A garment seam is always worked away as well as possible with this technique it gets the leading role.
